Processing Times

Normal Processing

Normal processing time is 2 working days in Geneva, followed by 10 working days in Canberra from the time your application is received, provided that all the required documentation and suitable photographs are submitted with the application.

Urgent Applications

The Passports Office in Geneva cannot process full validity passports in less than 10 days. Emergency Passports with a limited validity may be available to applicants who satisfy certain requirements and show a genuine need for the passport to be issued. This service attracts an additional Priority Processing Fee. Further enquiries about Emergency Passports should be made by calling the Passports Office in Geneva on 022 799 9147.

Fees and Payment

Payment must be made in Swiss Francs only.

• If lodging in person, payment must be made in cash.
• If lodging by mail, payment can be made either by bank transfer or postal order payable to the UBS, 1211 Genève 2, for ‘The Australian Consulate Official Account’ 211813.00E, Clearing No.240 (Post office Acc.80-2-2). Proof of payment, i.e. Post Office receipt or copy of the bank transaction, must be sent with the passport application.
• Payment by cheque is not accepted.
